Unicorn Snot Glitter Gel Recipe (2024)

This DIY unicorn snot glitter gel recipe is very easy to make and inexpensive. It's eye safe, so you can use it for your eyes, as a highlight, or anywhere that needs some sparkle.

I have a new obsession. Unicorns! My daughter and I love all things unicorn. The pink/blue/purple color combination has always been my favorite color combo.

And who can resist all of that glitter? Not I!

My daughter is active in our community theater, so she needs specialized makeup sometimes. She will need some sparkle for the next play, so we made this unicorn snot aka glitter gel.

We picked blue/green, pink, and purple glitter to make ours, but you can use any color that you want.

You can also make it as glittery as you want it. I wanted her to sparkle a little bit from stage and not be completely covered, so we went with a lighter look. You can totally customize it to fit your needs.

I love this easy unicorn snot glitter gel recipe because it's so easy to customize. This isn't really a recipe but more of a tutorial or a guide to make your own.

You can change the colors or use more or less glitter to make the perfect shade for you.

GLITTER

When I was searching for a glitter, I wanted something that was body safe and safe around the eye area. Not all glitters are safe for the eye area, so definitely check that before you buy.

I also wanted something inexpensive. Glitter lasts forever and ever, so I didn't need huge containers. I wanted a variety of colors at a great price.

I found this Eye Candy set of 6 glitters for under $10 shipped! I was a little nervous about the low price, but it's a decent amount of glitter in each container.

It's not super fine like mica, but it is a finer grain. It's safe for your face and eyes, so you can use it for makeup too. I like the lid on the container too because I can pour out a little bit without worrying about having it all come pouring out.

ALOE VERA GEL

The aloe vera gel is the snot and glue if you will. It holds the glitter in place and suspends it so you can apply it.

When it dries, the glitter stays in place without using a separate glue.

Make sure you get 99 percent pure aloe vera gel. I've seen some with alcohol in them. That wouldn't be too fun to apply on the eye area, so read the ingredients carefully.

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

STEP #1

Add about a tablespoon of clear aloe vera gel to the empty container. I used 1/4 ounce containers, but any small container will work.

STEP #2

Add about 1/8 teaspoon of glitter to the aloe vera gel.

You can add more or less glitter, depending on how dense you want the glitter to be.

Stir well.

I used pink, blue, and purple for my unicorn snot glitter gel recipe.

This is what it looks like with 1/8 teaspoon of glitter. You can definitely double that if you want a denser glitter.

If you want dense glitter, I would start with much less aloe vera gel and add glitter. Since the gel is cheaper than the glitter, it's easier to add more aloe than glitter.

You can also layer the glitter. Apply a layer, let dry completely, and add another layer.

This glitter can also be used as makeup by applying it over a glitter glue like e.l.f. glitter primer (available on Amazon or elf.com.)

I'm really impressed with the Eye Candy glitter set that I got, and the price can't be beat! I'm excited to try it for my makeup and nails too. I have a few more glitter recipes that I'll be posting in the next few weeks, so be sure to come back to look for them.
