Lore

Marauders are combat specialists whose weapon of choice is the greataxe—a fearsome arm long associated with Eorzea's pirates. Their approach to battle is one of brute force, as they rely on pure strength and good steel to crush enemies and sunder weapons.

They are highly sought after for their ferocity and intimidating presence, and are often employed to hunt down monsters plaguing the land or to turn the tide of battle between warring nations. Skilled marauders have been known to take on entire packs of slavering beasts and emerge with little more than a few scrapes and bruises.

Jobs

A Marauder can become a Warrior once he/she has reached levl 30 and leveled 15 as a Gladiator. A Marauder may also choose to be a Dragoon by way of leveling the Marauder class to level 15 or higher and switching to the Lancer class and leveling it to level 30.

Combat Role

The Marauder is a dedicated tank whose weapon of choice is the greataxe. The class relies on recovering health through dealing damage, particularly in short bursts through the Berserk skill.

The Marauder wears the heaviest class of armor and receives abilities that generate a large amount of Enmity for keeping enemy attention focused on him. Compared to the Gladiator, the Marauder's abilities are built less to reduce the damage taken and more to recover health through damage dealt.

Marauder's Arms or Weapons include massive Axes, Labrys, Bills, Tusks, Bhujs, Bardiches, and War Axes. A Marauder's most important stat is vitality, which increases their maximum health.

Skills

The Marauder has a tank skillset focused on generating large amounts of Enmity and keeping himself alive. He has a unique Enmity-increasing area attack called Overpower for dealing damage to a large group of opponents and keeping their attention. The Marauder will especially focus on the combined use of Bloodbath, an ability which recovers a portion of damage dealt for a time, and Berserk, an ability which greatly increases damage dealt for a time; in concert, these abilities recover a large amount of health for the Marauder while he protects teammates.

Traits

Traits are unlocked as you level up and apply a passive bonus to your character and their abilities. A Marauders traits give him bonuses to vitality, increasing his durability as well as giving many of his skills bonuses to their duration or recast.
